We replace the shaft with a case hardened chrome shaft and install a lip seal (the lip seal requires the special shaft). The nut for the rope seal is retained so the outward appearance is not altered.
Some of the rope seal pumps allow us to replace the bushings with sealed roller bearings. If sealed roller bearings can't be installed, we install new bushings and grease fittings.
The pump will always appear stock after we update it.
